We would like to welcome a new school from Hungary!
Herman Ottó Primary School is situated in the garden suburb area of Budapest, capital city of Hungary.
The school was founded in 1911 and has almost 60 teachers and almost 700 students between the ages 7-14.
Right now they are taking part in a letter exchange project with a school in Gävle, Sweden.
“The transformation of the way our school educates students follows the concepts of the 4Cs (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity). What distinguishes us from other schools is our strong focus on competence-based education, which is now the centre of our universe. Our aim is to provide our students with a survival kit for the 21st century, and this means that we put emphasis on certain capabilities in addition to teaching the traditional subjects. We teach our students to solve problems, to think critically, to communicate and collaborate effectively, to build teams and to use modern technologies. Our motto, evoking the words of Herman Ottó himself, seems to be more valid today than ever: ”Let us be proud of who we have been and make an effort to be more than who we are.”
